Ray’s Specialized P3

Ray is one of Tijon’s best friends, and they go all the way back to childhood. They grew up riding BMX together and discovered other facets of cycling over time.

Ray stopped by the shop with his tricked out with his Specialized P3 dirt jumper just to say hi, but ended up on an adventure to the local skatepark to get his bike photographed! Thanks for the good times Ray, come by more!

New DeAnima Complete

We just built up this DeAnima with a full Dura Ace 9100 groupo, Deluxe rims laced to DT Swiss 240 hubs, and a full carbon Ritchey cockpit. Weighing in at less than 14.5 pounds, this bike is ready for the steepest climbs! This is an eclectic mix of high-performance Italian, Japanese, and American components.

DeAnima is a small frame manufacturer out of Italy. They hand build all their frames in house with high-quality carbon. We’re beyond honored to be working with them and are proud to have their frames in our shop.

You can buy it right here.

Affinity’s Review of Deluxe Carbon Rims

Jason from Affinity wrote up a nice review of our 80mm track rims laced to the new Phil Wood Pro Track Hubs. Jason mentioned a few key points about our rims that make them what they are.

These rims are wide! A feature you’re going to start seeing a lot more of in this modern day of racing. It’s scientifically proven (over and over again) that wider rims with wider tires are just simply faster.  We recommend 23c tires on our 23cm wide tubular rims to get a perfect aero profile.

Something else Jason mentioned is how stiff these rims are. When we designed these rims we wanted a true track ready rim.  As he said, you can pinch the walls of this rim and really feel it’s strength. We wanted something that could handle the burliest sprinter’s 2500w efforts. So naturally, we didn’t even consider low spoke count options; we went straight for 28h.

Our rims are available in 25, 35, 45, and 55mm depths with 80 available for special order!

Dan’s Look

Dan came by the shop to get his rear wheel rebuilt for his track racing bike the other day. Naturally, we asked if we could photograph him for the blog! His look is circa 2000  and is a real racers bike with that aero, stiff tubing, and long beefy dropouts and a modern enduro build with Enve road drops, and Enve deep section wheels.

Thanks for coming by Dan, see you at the track!

Masters Track Nats

Wilis recently participated in Masters track nationals and did exceptionally well! Wilis turned 35 this year, which is the year masters starts, so Wilis got to compete in the 35-39 age group which is full of fast, competitive athletes!

Wilis’ first event was the individual pursuit 3k time trial and took 3rd with a time of 3:58, followed by a 40 lap scratch race the next day where he took 4th. The last day of racing was a brutal 80 lap points race and he podiumed with a 3rd place finish!

The racing took place at Giordana Velodrome in Rockhill, SC. Giordana is one of the  newest tracks in the US opening in 2012. With 42.5 degree embankment in the turns, and 17 degree embankment in the straights this is definitely one of the fastest tracks in the country. For reference, our own humble Kissena Velodrome has just 19 degree embankment in the turns.

Sunday Shop Ride

This past weekend Miguel led out the weekly shop ride up to Bear Mountain. The crew took a scenic route which followed GW to river road with a quick pit stop at the Ranger Station and then a break at the Market. After refueling everyone rode up to bear mountain by going through Harriman State Park instead of 9w.

The ride had a fun crew of 10 people. Friends were made and laughs were had. Thanks for such a fun ride everyone. See you all next week!
