James’ Deluxe Carbon 88 x Phil Wood Pro Track Tubular Wheelset

Today, we will be bidding farewell to this freshly built 88mm Deluxe Carbon Tubular rims laced to Phil Wood’s new Pro Track hubs. They will soon be finding their new home in Australia, where

track racer, James Robinson will be utilizing them at Australian Masters Champs and possibly, at World Masters Champs here in the States, October 2018 in LA.

When James approached Deluxe, he was looking for a race-ready wheelset that will withstand the raw power put out on the track but also a wheelset to indulge his appreciation for beautifully constructed, yet still effective and pragmatic objects. He will be mounting these onto his Affinity Kissena.

James, like many of us who are obligated by work and life’s duties, finds escape through his passion in cycling and racing. We feel honored to be providing our racing equipment to our friends in Australia, a country with a rich cycling heritage and culture, 10 thousand miles away, where we hope they will be ridden for 10 thousand miles upon arriving.

Rich’s Trek Crockett

If there’s one thing we love about our newest mechanic, Rich, it’s how much he loves shredding. The proof is in the pudding with his Trek Crockett CX bike. Built up with Sram Rival 1x,  but with a 22 shifter set, having the front shifter repurposed for a dropper post! The tubeless wheels with 40c tires, and the “aggro” positioning. This bike is simply built to shred all kinds of terrain.

Charly’s Winter Beater – Surly Longhaul Trucker 26″

Gearing up for the imminent tundra-like season of “it-is-too-brick-to-leave-my-bed” which NYC usually experiences this magical time of year, shop mechanic, mad scientist, and natural-born shredder, Charly, has freshly built up a Surly Longhaul Trucker 26″. He’s opted to build the Longhaul Trucker with modest parts that are serviceable with ease, and not to mention, won’t break the bank when/if things go awry.

The Longhaul Trucker was a no brainer for Charly. Having to trek an hour from Brooklyn to Uptown every day will take it’s toll on a commuting cyclist without the right gear and accessories. The bike is designed with comfort as it’s priority. The slack geometry, option for voluminous tires, and realness of steel, give the rider a cushy ride. Surly put a lot of development into catering this bike to the commuter/randonneur/touring cyclist, adding generous amounts of eyelets for racks and fenders, even a spare spoke holder on the NDS chainstay!
