Gearing up for the imminent tundra-like season of “it-is-too-brick-to-leave-my-bed” which NYC usually experiences this magical time of year, shop mechanic, mad scientist, and natural-born shredder, Charly, has freshly built up a Surly Longhaul Trucker 26″. He’s opted to build the Longhaul Trucker with modest parts that are serviceable with ease, and not to mention, won’t break the bank when/if things go awry.
The Longhaul Trucker was a no brainer for Charly. Having to trek an hour from Brooklyn to Uptown every day will take it’s toll on a commuting cyclist without the right gear and accessories. The bike is designed with comfort as it’s priority. The slack geometry, option for voluminous tires, and realness of steel, give the rider a cushy ride. Surly put a lot of development into catering this bike to the commuter/randonneur/touring cyclist, adding generous amounts of eyelets for racks and fenders, even a spare spoke holder on the NDS chainstay!
