Gibby Hatton’s New and Improved Ti Road

Gil “Gibby” Hatton is as incredible a coach as he is an accomplished track cyclist.

Gibby was the first American to be invited to the lucrative International Keirin Series in Japan. Gibby’s sage advise and strict training regimen has helped the Deluxe Track team take a few titles and medals home!

Coach wanted to continue the Martini motif we had going from the previous year but with a slight tinge. The frame is a Ti build from Gibby’s friend in California back in 2004. We retrofitted this badboy  up with Deluxe Carbon road wheels, SRAM Force 22, and Ritchey componentry. Shout out to Ben Falcon at Horse Cycles for the very clean paint job, as always!

Capsule Launch: Deluxe Cycles x Laser Barcelona

Work becomes play when collaborating with friends.

In our newest capsule launch, we linked up with the legendary Laser Barcelona to make some fresh wares for the Summer and Fall season.

The pieces presented respect simplicity and practical style, mixing the maritime cultures between the nautical NYC and boating Barcelona. Function meets fashion with this launch – using today’s bold innovations in tech clothing to offer our audience well balanced pieces.

Deluxe team rider, Dan Spellman, and his better half, Laurel Saint Romain, came through and helped us with this photoshoot. Wilis shot on his Hasselblad 500C/M and trusty point-and-shoot Yashica T4. Amir shot on his Contax T2 and Fujifilm X-T1. Good ol’ faithful Portra 400 was our film stock of choice.

New Deluxe “Baja Team” Kit

If you were ever wow’d by the regalia worn by our very own racers, you can now cop one while we have them. You won’t be disappointed by our newest launch – the Deluxe “Baja Team” Kit. They are now available here in-store, as well as on our webstore (links below).
We have sizes S-thru-XL in a Short-Sleeve Jersey, Long-Sleeve Jersey, and Bib Short.

It was a no-brainer choosing Endo Customs to manufacture this kit. Endo Customs have constantly impressed us with their highest level of quality in materials and work ethic. They are a small crew based out of Downtown Los Angeles and have exceeded our already highly rigid expectations, again and again. We have 100% confidence in Endo’s products after using the Deluxe track and road teams as our guinea pigs. Stressing and pushing the limits of the fabric to it’s threshold.

The construction of each piece of this kit are undeniably well crafted with the ideals of racers in mind.  The kit pieces were developed for comfort as much as they were for performance. The Short-Sleeve, Long-Sleeve Jerseys, as well as the Bib are lightweight, breathable, wear in well, and are true to race-fit sizing.

The jerseys are of a race fit, made of Italian engineered fabrics, and have a full-length reversible Endo “e” YKK zipper, and 3 rear pockets. The pockets they are modestly sized to fit a pouch, jacket and your food without feeling stretched or loose. The height of them makes them easy to get into on the bike and off the bike without snag. The

bottom hem of the jersey has a generous strip of Italian silicone elastic – Endo Gel-Fast Elastic to help keep the jersey down and in place.  The jersey fuses a finessed look and performance.  Their signature race cut jersey is constructed of lightweight supple fabrics that provide premium comfort while resting snug against the body.  It also includes mesh panels in the under arm area contribute to the enhanced air flow and breathability.

The bib is built with the highest quality highly abrasion-resistant Italian fabric with high compression technology. The chamois stitched with  Cytech’s EIT Road Performance. It’s a high quality pad designed for comfort on longer rides – cushy and breathable, also found on other high end bibs. The extended race cut leg bands are laser cut with integrated grip, so the bib doesn’t shift when you get out of the saddle to put in a powerful effort. It also features material rated for 50+SPF/UPF sun protection. It is also worth noting that this chamois has a center channel for perineal comfort and variable thickness to provide the right support for right areas and breathability for the others. The chamois is molded into a 3D shape to help minimize any rubbing in the wrong places.

Bottom line, the Deluxe Team kit by Endo Customs are a high quality comfortable kit catered to both club riders and those wishing to race in style. They are the marriage of both function and fashion.

Well crafted, with choice taste, bonded by a flowing graphic design.

Amir’s Surly Straggler Commuter/SSCX

Here at Deluxe, we take pleasure in building sumptuous, extravagant, luxurious, masterful machines for our clients and sometimes, for ourselves.

However, arguably, the best bike in your fleet is one to get you from point A-to-B, traversing all sorts of conditions. One that, with the correct security procedures and best anti-theft gear, you can step away from it and have the peace of mind that your baby is safe and sound among the grimiest of human beings. A bike that won’t break the bank. A machine that, when you feel pent up inside because the weather has you down, you feel okay with leaving the house and getting dirty, despite having the ground covered in salty-icy-nasty muck… just to get you out of the house!

Amir recently built up a bike with that exact mindset. Practical, comfortable,  yet still gorgeous. Using a bunch of parts accumulating dust and a few components decommissioned from various race bikes – a Surly Straggler is born. It is currently set up singlespeed, which he will be using first and foremost, as a commuter… but also doubling as a trail ripper and SSCX (when Cyclocross season finally comes around – we’re already counting the days).

P.S. He left it salty for the haters.

Rich’s Trek Crockett

If there’s one thing we love about our newest mechanic, Rich, it’s how much he loves shredding. The proof is in the pudding with his Trek Crockett CX bike. Built up with Sram Rival 1x,  but with a 22 shifter set, having the front shifter repurposed for a dropper post! The tubeless wheels with 40c tires, and the “aggro” positioning.
